Host : Are you sure?
Player : Absolutely yes.
Host : Okie, computer lock on D. And..... You Just Got the right answer !
Host : How did you know that?
Player : Because i just watch the movie " Slumdog Millionaire ".
End of story, now the real part.
Directed by Danny Boyle, the master behind the film " 28 days later" , based on the book Q and A written by Indian author and diplomat Vikas Swarup
The film, shot and set in India, follows a young man from the slums of Mumbai who appears on a game show and exceeds people's expectations, raising the suspicions of the game show host and law enforcement.
Details of the film should be let for discover. However, the film did depicted some of the reality happening in India now, Religions conflict, poverty, organized child begging by crime syndicate, polarity in society, Outsourcing Call center, attitude of the elite towards the slum etc.
But more importantly, the film directed by a British reminds us of the forgotten half of the globe, the lives and fates of 3 billion peoples who live in poverty, lack of foods, healthcare, education, legal protection and most importantly , Hope.
No wonder all the Indian Crowd shown in the film wishing Jamal go and win all the money , because in another way, the fact that slumdog can be millionaire gives hope to the others, who still struggle to earn a living.
In other way, i believe that for the other half of the globe, our lifes is another game of who wants to be a millionaire itself. The difference is, instead of It's written, the answer to the questions on deciding our fate all lie within our path of life. Where at the deciding moment, we have to stop, listen , observe and review back our past to look for the answer.....
Conclusion :
As there arent actually much question on the shows revealed, to some extent the film didnt show exactly how every part of the actors life fitted with every questions on the " who wants to be a millionaire show ", somehow opposed to the theme of the movie. Anyway, it still a must watched movie which leads inspiration and afterthought of many people.
P.S. I just knew that besides Oxford Circus, there is another Cambridge Circus in the City of London, Should check it out sometime.
